Boris Šitum was born on september 9th 1966 in Cista Provo. From 1978 he lives on Trstenik, town Split. After finishing high school, he attended program of Visual Culture and Fine Arts at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split. He graduated in 1993. As an art pedagogue, he works in a few primary schools. He is a member of proffesional assoiation of visual arts – HULU – Split and president of an Association for Contemporary Arts – KVART. He is an author of series of public sculptures and land-specific instalations: My piece of sky, Morning, Louisville Ridge, Fragile, Never more, Beware of the dog, Life is a massive phenomenon…
He is a founder of project ”Calendar” in Cista Provo within which artworks had exhibited nearly fifty Croatian and foreingh artists through the five years (2011-2015). With association KVART, he moves the bounderies over a decay in a life of micro community and creates a ”new” position of an artist in society. He is a winner of serious number of awards and recognitions for his artwork (37th Split Salon, ”There are two of us” – MMSUI Pula, MMSU Rijeka…). His actions in the medium of performing arts (17, Match ball, Death is near, Situation…) has been noticed by public and proffessional suroundings. His artworks are present in fundus of croation institutions and in private collections. In resent time, he collaborates on project ”27 neighborhoods” which is found within the European Capital of Culture – Rijeka 2020. For conceptual solution of sculpture ”Shirt of liefs”, he won a Main award – Grand prix Emanuel Vidović on 40th Split Salon in 2018.
